Tim Lawson - The Singing Business Man (Translation)
by Samuel Pradier

Passion is the primary word of this rich Canadian businessman. After a full career, Tim Lawson retired from the business world to embrace the world of show business.

We don't always decide our own future. For a long time, Tim Lawson was involved in the economy and finances before doing what he had always wanted to do: sing, compose and perform. He has just released the third album of his four-year career, and he isn't stopping yet. "I started to write music six years ago, but my first album took a lot of time. I'd like to do one album per year, and share my music as much as possible. But, this is not possible. You have to take your time," explains the Canadian, who composes for his own happiness. His life unfolds happily on his ranch in the suburb of Vancouver where we met him. A life of dreams where work is mixed with passion.

But Tim Lawson had to wait before diving into this musical passion. His explanation proves his wisdom: "Life takes its own course. In my case, I have been married since I was very young. I have had to face my responsibilities to provide a comfortable life and take care of the well-being of my wife and my child. When I was 20, I wanted to get all of the musical equipment I needed, but I didn't have the money. During my career as a businessman, I made enough money so that today I can create music. There are a lot of young musicians who want to make it quickly, but you have to be patient. It is important in life to take your time and to know how to be patient." Tim has always known how to be passionate about his business. "I started writing music only when I stopped being a businessman. But previously, I had started playing guitar. And now, above all, I never stop singing. My favourite place to sing is in my car. So when I go on small trips, I am always performing shows - in my car. No one hears me, but I have always been a rock star."

Tim never forgets the little people. For him, making music is also a civil act. "I love music, but it has to be worthwhile, it has to be sensitive. This is essential. I deeply believe in what I sing. The people I work with are all great people first, then great musicians. I can't visualize my life any other way," he explains. But, unlike many other wealthy people, the list of good deeds is not very long. "I am mainly involved in the fight against Multiple Sclerosis, and I am a Canadian ambassador for this foundation. I am also equally as busy with the S.P.C.A. I believe in the love for animals. And now, I am involved in another cause that is very important, music therapy. I believe that the music is valuable enough to change people, things, the world. But, I am always ready to dedicate a song or a concert of a worthwhile cause," he affirms. Furthermore, animals are very present in Tim's life. In addition to the family's pets, he has a giant aquarium in his yard. Tim Lawson raises Japanese fish that he sells. Always the same motive - passion above all. Accompanying the release of this album, Tim Lawson should be doing a tour of France before the summer. There is no question that he wants to do this. He will organize a small tour of free concerts in smaller venues throughout the provinces.
