Tim Lawson
Lately I Don’t Care (CD Single)
Eight years ago, Tim Lawson was a businessman.
This month he releases his debut UK single and next month
the debut UK album “The Right Way On” is released.
Judging by his four track single Mr. Lawson
was right to turn his back on the city. Four varied tracks
underpinned by Lawson’s deep, rich vocal style, a touch
of country, a touch of folk and an ear for songs and harmony.
There remains an element of the rugged outdoors, although
the subject matter ranges from a love song to his wife, a
perspective on east Berlin, rain forest destruction to the
Klondyke gold rush. At times I am reminded of Gordon Lightfoot
and Ritchie Havens, though Lawson has boned a distinctive
style since his business defection to the cut-throat world
of music. If CD singles were merely measured by chart success,
this would be dead in the water. Since they also provide an
indication of talent and an appetizer for full albums, the
rooster among us should watch out for the new CD.
